Day 1

Arrive in Florence and drive through the scenic rolling hills of Tuscany to our home, award winning organic vineyard Fattoria Lavacchio where we will have an abundant lunch waiting for us poolside. Introduction to the Lottero Family, including grandeur host, Faye Lottero who will take us on a tour of the special estate that includes an extensive tasting of their wine and fantastic olive oil. Relax and shake off jet-lag while taking in the 360 views of Toscana. Dinner together at their fantastic restaurant Mulino a Vento where we meet famed chef Mirko Margheri.


Day 2

Morning Truffle Hunting! After our farm fresh breakfast as Casabella (the main house in which our rooms are located) we will hunt for the treasure in Fattoria Lavacchio's beautiful woods rich with this golden fungi and other ancient relics buried in the woods, left by the Etruscans. With our findings, we will partake in a cooking class to make the tuscan classic: Fresh pasta with shaved truffles. Lunch will follow with wine pairing. After lunch will be free time to experience reserved excursions that will take place at the vineyard (Massage, horseback riding, Ceramics). Dinner will be held together at Mulino a Vento.


Day 3

Big Day!

We will leave early in the morning for Seggiano & Montalcino! We will visit a very special ancient Etruscan castle owned by the eccentric family of a famous British author where we will experience the history of Pecorino while watching a wheel made fresh before our eyes. We will have a true Tuscan lunch paired with wine hosted in the castle.

Next stop will be one you may never forget: Vineyard visit and tasting of award winning Brunello di Montalcino followed by a visit to a famous cellar owned by a long-standing Venetian family.

We will have some free time to roam around Montalcino before we depart for our "family" dinner at Mulino a Vento.


Day 4

Firenze! We will leave in the morning for an unforgettable day in Florence. Our first stop will be a private tour of the world's oldest apothecary, Farmacia Santa Maria Novella. There is a bit of a cult following after the Medici's, Popes, and other famous people frequented this palace for their perfumes & elixirs. For lunch, we will have a tour of the Mercato Centrale where we will have a tasting of Tuscan delicacies of cured meats, cheeses, and maybe even tripe (a local favorite) for the adventurous! After lunch there will be a guided tour where we will see the Duomo and other Firenze essentials. We cannot bring you to Florence without allowing time to roam the cobblestone streets with your loved ones, so there will be a good amount of free time (or shall I say, SHOPPING time!!) before we meet again. Wandering around this famous Renaissance city builds up an appetite for wine & fine food - we will join once again for an appertivo and private dinner on a rooftop in a secret Firenze Palazzo.


Day 5

Depart in the morning for Siena! Our first stop before the city will be Carli's favorite estate that is rich in history, the arts, and puppies. The Estate has been in the same Sienese Noble family for 500 years and produces excellent Chianti Classico wines. The family has a very rich history including popes, nobility, and artists. Hosted by the owner we visit the estate and villa that preserves its 18th century noble charm. Lunch will be in the villa featuring wine pairing of Chianti Classico before we depart for the City of Siena. In Siena we will have a walking tour of the City Center including the Piazza del Campo where the famous Palio horse race happens twice every year. For dinner, we will dine at our friends 13th century castle (yes, another one!) and estate that produces exceptional wines and olive oil. We will walk the property and learn about the wild herbs that are so important to Tuscan cuisine. Following this we will have a wonderful dinner on the Castle grounds, based on the wild foods we have learned about and gathered ourselves.


Day 6

We will live Under the Tuscan Sun in Cortona! After our farm fresh breakfast at Lavacchio, our group will head out to the famed medieval town in Tuscany that influenced the book and movie where we will have a private walking tour. Our lunch will be a carnivores dream, as we dine at a local agriturismo with a menu centered around the famous Tuscan Chianina Beef. After lunch we will drive through the Tuscan hills to a unique vineyard that produces organic Syrah for a tour of their cellars and of course, a tasting.

Our dinner be back home at Fattoria Lavacchio and Ristorante Mulino a Vento.


Day 7

On our last full day (already depressed about this) we will have free time for more activities at Fattoria Lavacchio and an exquisite cheese tasting with a local dairy farm. The cows that produce the milk to this cheese live a luxurious life on a bio-dynamic organic farm that grows their own grain and the water comes from Mt. Panna (source of the famous Acqua Panna). In the afternoon we will have a beer & meat course where we learn not only the traditional techniques that goes into making Italian cured meats, but we will also learn how to pair it with an assortment of local beer, as the craft beer trend takes over Toscana. Our farewell dinner will be held at Mulino a Vento.



The cost is $4,800 per person for double occupancy - for single occupancy it is $5,200.

Price includes: A private dinner at Cafe Capriccio that we will have a month before our departure to serve as a meet & greet that includes an abundant meal prepared by Jim and Franco Rua paired with Tuscan wines. Roundtrip airfare from NYC to Florence that includes an in flight meal & alcoholic beverages, 7 nights at award-winning Fattoria Lavacchio, all meals while in Tuscany (21 meals, with wine), private transportation in Italy including all fees for excursions. For an additional $100 per person, private transportation to the airport from Cafe Capriccio can be provided. Land only price is available upon request.

Cafe Capriccio allows travelers to pay for their ticket in three installment payments. Once you sign up Cafe Capriccio will invoice you. You may pay by credit card but personal check is preferred. Installments will consist of $1,600 three times for double occupancy per person (or $3,200 per couple) and three payments of $1,733 for single occupancy. Upon registering, first payment is required to reserve your spot. Second payment will be a month after the first charge, and third payment will be a month after that unless otherwise requested to extend. We strive to be very accommodating with the financial aspect of this trip.
