Do you eat to live or live to eat? We pick the latter. Join us for a unique experience in touring Tuscany from a foodies perspective. Unlike your cookie-cutter tourist trap vacation package, this tour will bring you to the heart of Tuscany visiting many essential cities and towns and meeting star chefs, tasting ancient recipes, and making food from it’s famed source. Join us on this 9 day trip to Toscana this October!

 
 

ITINERARY - OCTOBER 12-20 2019

Day 1 - Private transportation to NYC & flight to Florence

Day 2 - Arrive in Florence and drive through scenic rolling hills of Tuscany to our home, award winning organic vineyard Fattoria Lavacchio. Check into our rooms and have an abundant welcome lunch with our magnificent host Faye Lottero. We will spend our afternoon relaxing and shaking off the jet lag. Dinner will be hosted at the vineyard’s restaurant Mulino a Vento where we meet famed chef Mirko Margheri.

Day 3 - Meet at Casabella for a farm fresh breakfast, then head for the hills! We will hunt for truffles in the beautiful woods rich with golden funghi and ancient relics with Faye’s expert (and adorable) dogs. With our findings, we will partake in a cooking class to make a Tuscan classic: fresh pasta & shaved truffles. After lunch we will have an extensive tour of the vineyard, wine production, olive oil production, and end with a Master wine and olive oil tasting. Dinner will be held at Casabella with the Lottero family where we will learn how to properly pair wines with our cuisine.

Day 4 - Indulge in another wonderful breakfast, get on our private bus, and drive to a prominent cheese producer in Val d’Orcia to have a comprehensive tour and exclusive pecorino tasting. After, we will have a private walking tour of the Pienza, the city of Pius - which is considered to be the incarnation of a Renaissance utopia. Our tour finale will be spent at special birrificio (brewery) to have a course on how to pair cured meat with your favorite styles of beer. We will have dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant that specializes in traditional Casentino fare.

Day 5 - Free morning at Lavacchio. Breakfast is provided, as well as various activities that you may partake in at a separate cost, such as:
-Horseback riding through Tuscan landscape
-Ceramics Class with famous Innocenti family
-European massage
In the afternoon our group will partake in a specialized salumi course where we will learn the traditional techniques and recipes on cured meats, followed by lunch. Our evening will be spent in Florence where we will have a extensive tour of the infamous Mercato Centrale along with a private dinner

Day 6 - Meet for breakfast then drive to our dear friends estate, who have been making ”Proscuitto del Casentino” for many generations. We will have an exclusive look into their aging cellar and will be hosted for lunch. After lunch we will visit the midevil hamlet of Poppi where we will meet the man who supplies spices to businesses all over the world, an expert spice hunter. On our way to dinner with a famous Tuscan Chef in Stia, we will stop in Arrezzo to visit a special honey producer.

Day 7 - After breakfast we will have a day that our carnivores will die for. We will travel to Dicomano, a territory marked deeply by history, including traces of Etruscan civilization. We will visit where the famous florientine steak is produced, followed by a meat forward lunch! After our visit, we will head to Florence to have free evening to do as we please. This is a great opportunity to visit many great trattoria’s and shops

Day 8 - Our final full day in Toscana will be done in proper dining fashion - dessert. After our delicious breakfast, we will head to Provincia di Prato for a moring biscotti e cioccolato tasting. Our sweet morning will then lead to Villa Medicea Artiminio – Famous Medici family estate followed by lunch. This evening we will have our farewell dinner at Lavacchio with our friends.

Day 9 - Have our last grandoise breakfast at Casabella, then check out ensues. Our final drive through the gorgeous hills of Tuscany to Peretola Airport and head for NYC. Arrive home and immediately dream of Toscana, and perhaps buy a bigger pant size.
